Additive manufacturing (AM) is the process of making a part or
product by adding successive layers of material in a relatively
efficient way, such that there is little waste. Examples are fused
deposition modeling, laser sintering, inkjet printing and
aerosol jet printing.
In comparison to photolithography where the manufacturer must
remove much of the material that is deposited to create a given
layer of the product, AM systems only use material where it is
needed with little or no waste.

While Great River Machine Works is an excellent prototype and short run machine shop, we pride ourselves on being a resource to our Minnesota neighbors when they need repairs. We have MIG and TIG welding capabilities, in addition to our CNC mill and conventional lathe. For fine detail work or repairs, TIG is our process of choice, for the control it allows over the welding. Larger projects and fabrication we usually do with MIG welding, or stick welding.
